Community Streeties India is Home to 160+ rescued dogs
SHARANAKSH is a non-profit Trust dedicated to the rescue, care, rehabilitation, and re-homing of neglected/abused dogs. The word “Sharanaksh” has been derived from Sanskrit words Sharanam (meaning shelter) and Raksha (meaning to protect). This animal shelter under the Trust is called Community Streeties India (CSI).
This trust was established in Aug-2018 by avid animal lovers led by Sai Geetha. We have named the shelter as “(Community Streeties India)”. CSI was located in Devanahalli (Bangalore, India) near a village called Avathi. In 2023, we moved to a new location, in Yambarahalli closer to Nandi Hills after facing a debilitating situation where we were given only 6 months time to vacate the premises. We didn’t leave any stone unturned and put in our best efforts and finally made the big move in September 2024. The current premises is much bigger and at a much better location with a lot of scope to save many more dogs in need.
We believe that all living beings have an equal right to our Earth’s resources and to live without pain, suffering and desperation. It becomes the duty of humans to prevent cruelty against animals.
CSI is now home to 160+ dogs (pups, young adults, and the elderly dogs who are happily living out their days at the shelter).
We have rescued over 2000+ dogs in the past decade in both individual and CSI capability, and apart from rescue we provide 450+ meals daily to the community dogs in parts of South/North Rural Bangalore. So there are less hurt and less hungry animals in Bangalore.
(Please note: Change of address from Avathi to Yambarahalli is in process)

Sai Geetha
Founder Trustee
A spirited and passionate animal rights champion gave up the temptations of a secure & conventional corporate career path to pursue her commitment to the cause she so cares about. Backed by her experience in Hospitality, Human Resources, Fashion Designing, Pet grooming and Entrepreneurship, she plunged full time into the throes of running an animal shelter under the aegis of a registered Not for profit – a trust that she christened ‘Sharanaksh’, located in Devanahalli (Bengaluru). Sharanaksh started its journey in 2018, with just 8 dogs she rescued and relocated from BTM layout, out of her deep desire to do something and possibly help alleviate, atleast to some extent, the pain and anguish of these voiceless beings.
Saraswathi Pratap
Managing Trustee
A loving & ever smiling homemaker with boundless energy, who has always been passionate about learning & any form of art & creativity, all through nurturing her love for cooking, baking, fashion designing and various other art forms. More importantly, she has been a committed champion pursuing, supporting and standing up for the cause of the voiceless, and has played the critical role of a guide & mentor to Sharanaksh since its inception, and continues to contribute in her capacity to the organization’s journey.
Puneet Ramchandani
Advisor
A finance professional and has been the shelter’s biggest support right from its early days. Without his support Geetha wouldn’t have been able to make her passion into a reality. Puneet believes in this cause and is deeply concerned about the wellbeing of street dogs. We are forever grateful for his unconditional love and support. It’s time we acknowledge his efforts towards his extended family. We @CSI love you for all that you have been doing for the kids.

In May-2018, she quit her coveted job in a multinational company to care for their 10 senior and young rescue family dogs with an ambition to provide shelter for many more dogs that need care via the institution called Sharanaksh.
